Choose from dozens of different classes and activities, including hiking, archery, fencing, T'ai Chi, Haiku Poetry, Hatha Yoga I and II, Qi Gong, Yoga Stretch and Stress Management. Combine the activities with massage therapy, meditation and beauty treatments on your California spa vacation. The Golden Door Spa resort grounds offer private hiking trails, meditation sand gardens, two swimming pools, a fitness center and two tennis courts. There is a a classic eleven-circuit design labyrinth on which you walk continuously and meditatively toward the center, then back out again.
Evenings at the Golden Door are spent relaxing, meeting new people and enjoying delicious healthy food. All guests arrive on a Sunday for a week-long stay which gives guests the opportunity to form new relationships. After dinner, see a movie, participate in a workshop or take a cooking class.
Rooms & Food
The 40 guest rooms are housed in traditional meditative shrines on a raised teak platform holding a Japanese flower arrangement. Rooms include fresh flowers, books, personal CD players and a complete spa wardrobe. The rooms have private rear gardens and a moon-viewing deck.
The Golden Door offers low-fat healthy spa cuisine with most ingredients from the spa's own organic vegetable garden. Breakfast is served in-room. Lunch, dinner and snacks are served in some outdoor location and in the dining room.
