Family vacationers get accommodated in spacious two-room cottages in four categories, Garden through Royal that range from 626 to 810 square feet in size. If you are staying seven days or longer, you can request a specific hale or floor plan (see the resort's web site).
The staff at the resort arranges numerous complimentary activities daily, including arts and crafts programs for kids. There is a complimentary program starting at 9:30 a.m. each morning for children ages 6 to 12 that combines fun and educational activities. Children younger than 6 years of age can also participate when accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
Some of the vacation activities for kids include Hula classes, fishing contests, coconut painting, net throwing, Hawaiian crafts, pool activities, marine discovery programs and ball games.
Kona Village Resort also offers complimentary programs for teens such as sunfish sailing lessons, tennis lessons, kayaking, softball, baseball and volleyball. Scuba and snorkel sails are available for an additional fee.
In the evenings, enjoy a family dinner together at the Hale Moana Dining Room, or book a romantic candlelight dinner while your kids have fun at Keiki dinner followed by marshmallow roasts on the beach, stargazing and storytelling. The Children's Program is offered every month except May and September.
Babysitting services are available at additional cost through Malihini Keiki Care (808-331-2909 for reservations). Kona Village Resort can provide a crib for individual hales at a one time charge of USD $25 plus tax per crib.
