The Salute to the Arts festival is one of the most elegant wine country events which attracts art, food and wine connoisseurs from around the world. It will take place in Sonoma Valley between Friday, July 26 and Sunday, July 28, 2002.

The weekend festival begins with a gala opening at Buena Vista Winery on Friday night. The Friday night event includes wine and food tastings, an art auction and a dance party featuring live music.

Day-time events on Saturday and Sunday take place in the Sonoma Plaza located in downtown Sonoma. The eight-acre area is covered with tents, pavilions, and stages to accommodate wine and food tastings where regional chefs hold live cooking demonstrations. There is also music, dance, theatre and numerous art exhibits by wine country artists. Choose from ballet and ethnic dances as well as classical, jazz and blues music.

On Saturday night, the 2002 Salute to the Arts Dinner and Live & Silent Auction will be held at Chateau St. Jean Winery in Kenwood. The evening will feature a seated dinner and live auction of fine art, wine country vacation getaways, and exotic vacation packages. Net proceeds from the Salute to the Arts festival fund scholarships and various educational non-profit organizations.

Food & Wine Tasting in Sonoma Plaza on Saturday or Sunday costs $25. Saturday Night Dinner & Auction at Chateau St. Jean in Kenwood costs $125. Tickets can be reserved online at the Salute to the Arts web site: www.salutetothearts.com.
