The American Club is a luxury resort located in the Village of Kohler in Wisconsin.

Why Go

The American Club offers a wide selection of things to do, including two 18-hole championship golf courses, a luxurious destination spa, a health and racquet facility, several restaurants, a wilderness preserve and several shops and boutiques. The American Club is the Midwest’s only AAA Five Diamond resort hotel.

Whistling Straits golf course, designed by Pete Dye, has been selected to host the 2004 PGA Championship. The course features a picturesque setting and scenic views of the Great Lake from each of its 18 holes.

The Sports Core is a private 85,000 square-foot fitness facility offering two indoor swimming pools, six indoor and six outdoor tennis courts, a sundeck with outdoor whirlpool spa, a two mile outdoor running trail and a number of fitness machines. Resort vacation guests can join fitness classes, including spinning, kick boxing, Tai Chi, step aerobics, water fitness and children's classes.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you can spend time exploring the resort's 500-acre wilderness preserve. Guests can rent a canoe or fish in the Sheboygan River, located on the preserve. There is also horseback riding in the summer, cross-country skiing in the winter, trap shooting and hunting.

Kohler Waters Spa

Kohler Waters Spa, opened in 2000, offers a range of spa treatments with an emphasis on soothing therapeutic water treatments. The spa consists of 21 treatment rooms and occupies over 15,000 square feet of space. Many innovative Kohler bathing and showering products are featured in the spa rooms, including whirlpools, baths, showers, fixtures and faucets. Spa treatments include bathing and body experiences, massages and facials. Some of the unique treatments are: the Great Lakes Stone massage, Tsunami and Still Waters.

If you are looking for low-fat low-calorie meals, you can dine at Kohler Waters Spa. Choose from lunch sandwiches and salads, fruit smoothies and gourmet teas and coffees.

Resort Rooms & Food

Guest rooms in the original building are decorated with American memorabilia. All rooms at The American Club feature a Kohler Whirlpool bath.

Vacation guests can choose from several restaurants, including a European-styled wine bar, rustic log cabins, and cosmopolitan dining rooms. The Immigrant is the hotel's signature restaurant serving international cuisine and fine wine. The restaurant is divided into six rooms with French, Dutch, German Hunt, Normandy, Scandinavian and English themes.

Best Time to Go & Getting There

Go in the summer to enjoy warm weather. You can visit year-round and take advantage of the sports facilities at the Sports Core. The American Club is about 2.5 hours from Chicago, about one hour from Milwaukee and one hour from Green Bay. The Sheboygan County Memorial Airport, 5 minutes from the resort, is accessible by private air transportation.
