Fall Foliage Cruise Vacation on the Mississippi River
Written by Vacation Idea.com Travel Editors.
From mid-September through the end of October, the banks of the Mississippi River present a magnificent display of colors. During those weeks, the Delta Queen Steamboat Company offers a number of fall foliage cruise itineraries with departures from St. Louis, Chattanooga, St. Paul, Nashville, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
Cruises range from three to seven days in length and are offered aboard the Mississippi Queen and the Delta Queen, a National Historic Landmark.
Each cruise will have a naturalist on hand to guide vacationers in identifying various plants and trees along the Mississippi River. Bird watchers will be able to observe migratory birds heading south for the winter.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample apple cider and pumpkin pie made from ingredients harvested in Heartland America.
Fall foliage itineraries range from three to seven nights in length. For a three-night river cruise, rates range from $695 to $1,945 per person, double occupancy. Read more about the Delta Queen Steamboat Company, or call the company at 800-543-1949 for departure times and itineraries.
