Holland America Line is offering 40 percent more suites and verandahs in 2006 than ever before. The cruise company will have three Vista-class ships cruising in Alaska, in addition to its five other ships.
Each Vista-class ship has 162 suites in seven categories, as well as 461 Deluxe Outside Verandah staterooms with ocean views. Oosterdam and Westerdam will be sailing Alaska roundtrip from Seattle. Vancouver roundtrip itineraries are also available.
Suites give passengers more space, private verandahs and Neptune Lounge access for Penthouse and Deluxe Verandah Suite guests. Each Vista-class ship has two Penthouse Verandah Suites which measure 1,318 square feet, 60 Deluxe Verandah Suites ranging from 510-700 square feet, and 100 Superior Verandah Suites.
The Superior Verandah Suites measure 398 square feet and feature a verandah, sitting area, two desks, and a bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi tub and two sinks. In 2006, rates for Deluxe Verandah Suites start at $1,479 double occupancy for the Alaskan Explorer Cruise and $1,449 double occupancy for the Glacier Bay Inside Passage.
Neptune Lounge offers guests personalized service for making reservations for shore excursions, spa services, car rentals and the Pinnacle Grill restaurant.
If you don't want to splurge on a suite, Deluxe Outside Verandah staterooms have 254 square feet of space and allow you to view the scenery from the verandah during the cruise in Alaska.
