Bora Bora Vacation Guide

Why Go To Bora Bora
Bora Bora is a romantic vacation destination where so much of the island seems to have been designed around most major romantic getaway fantasies. Over-water bungalows, secluded beaches, arriving by helicopter (if you are lucky), amazing marine life and beautiful sunsets.

Where to Stay
Hotel Bora Bora: Leave your room (One of 54 Polynesian-style bungalows) and head out for a romantic beach picnic on a deserted motu (islet).

Bora Bora Lagoon Resort: Check out the packages available on Bora Bora Lagoon Resort's website. While they are not the cheapest vacation option in Tahiti, they do offer free nights and some great honeymoon packages.

Other great options include the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort, the moderately-priced Hotel Maitai Polynesia and the luxurious Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa.

Bora Bora Vacation Tips
Any time you head for a vacation on a remote island, you need to make sure that all of your travel arrangements are confirmed. No matter where you are coming from, a trip to Bora Bora is a not just a simple direct flight. Be sure that you have enough time to make any airline connections that you need to make, especially on your transfer from the airport in Papeete to Bora Bora. Be sure to confirm your arrival details with your hotel just before you leave so that they can arrange transportation (a boat ride) from the airport on Bora Bora to your resort.

What The Trip Will Cost
The price range for hotels in Bora Bora starts at around $300 USD for a garden view room to over $1,000 USD for an overwater bungalow.

When To Go
Summer is from November through April, when the climate is slightly warmer and more humid. Winter is from May through October, when the climate is slightly cooler and dryer. For hotels, low season is generally between January 1st to May 31st and November 1st to December 31st. High season is June through October.

Getting There and Getting Around
Fly to the only International Airport (PPT) in Papeete, Tahiti (Faa' a), and then transfer to either Air Tahiti or Wan Air for a 40-minute flight to Bora Bora. Once you arrive on Bora Bora, you should arrange for your hotel to pick you up at the airport. Check out our Tahiti Vacation Guide for more information on how to get to Papeete.

What To Bring
Bora Bora is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world, so bring your camera and plenty of film or memory cards for pictures.
