Written by Vacation Idea.com Travel Editors.
A great golf vacation awaits at the Greenbrier, a full-service resort located in the Allegheny Mountains in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The resort's three championship golf courses will be more than a match for golf enthusiasts. After you've had your fill of golf, sit back and enjoy the views of the surrounding Allegheny Mountains, head to the spa, or take a day off and relax by the pool.
The Old White Course
The Greenbrier's first 18-hole golf course was the Old White Course, which opened in 1913. One of the first golfers to play the course was president Woodrow Wilson in 1914. The Old White Course is currently undergoing a multi-year restoration project which will be complete in 2006.
The Greenbrier Course Originally constructed in 1924, the Greenbrier Course was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus for the 1979 Ryder Cup.
The Meadows Course
Originally a 9-hole course back in 1910, the Meadows Course was enlarged to 18 holes in 1962. Then in 1999 the course was redesigned by Robert Cupp. The course has great views of the surrounding mountains.
Golf Digest Academy
No golf vacation would be complete without a few lessons. The Greenbrier has partnered with Golf Digest Schools to create a golf instructional facility where guests can go to iron out their game.
