Whare Kea Lodge is located in the shores of Lake Wanaka in New Zealand's Southern Alps. A vacation at Whare Kea Lodge is about relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. Take an early morning walk by the lake and then return to the Lodge for a sumptuous breakfast.
Spring and fall are the best times for trout and salmon fishing in the nearby lakes and in the winter (July to October). Whare Kea provides an ideal base for heli-skiing in New Zealand.
For the adventurous, there is the secluded Whare Kea Chalet higher up in the mountains which can be reached by helicopter.
Rooms & Suites
The lodge can accommodate a maximum of twelve guests in two master suites and four deluxe rooms. All rooms have a large ensuite bathroom, with a double ended bath and separate shower, Bose stereo sound system and broad-band wireless internet access. The two master suites have king sized double beds, a double sofa, and outdoor sun loungers.
Where to Eat
Breakfast and dinner are cooked by the Lodge's chef using fresh local ingredients. Lunch is not included in your room rate but lunch can be provided for guests in any way that suits your schedule.
How to Get to the Resort
Wanaka is approximately a one-hour drive from Queenstown and five hours from
Christchurch. There are daily flights to Queenstown from Auckland and Christchurch
international airports. There is one direct daily flight from Christchurch to
Wanaka. Rental cars are available in Queenstown and in Wanaka.
