Wharekauhau Lodge is based on a 5,000-acre working sheep station overlooking the spectacular Palliser Bay. Wharekauhau provides luxury accommodations offering the chance for guests to enjoy unique New Zealand country hospitality.

Rooms & Suites

Guests at Wharekauhau stay in private self-contained cottages. The cottages, which are spread throughout the estate, use natural materials, have king-sized four-poster beds, fully stocked bar, and under floor heating. If you are unable to leave the outside world behind, Wharekauhau can equip guest suites with televisions and daily newspaper delivery on request.

Where to Eat

Dining at Wharekauhau resembles a private dinner party, with guests seated at grand tables. However, guests who prefer a more intimate setting can request a private dining room. Wharekauhau's menu features New Zealand classics such as rack of lamb, venison, pigeon breast, crab broth and crayfish. There is also an award winning selection of local wines, includingPalliser Estate, Ata Rangi, and Martinborough Vineyard.

How to Get There

Ten minutes by air from Wellington (90 minutes by road), Wharekauhau is framed by the Rimutaka Ranges to the west and Palliser Bay to the east.
