Makena Beach

Makena Beach, also called Oneloa Beach or Big Beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui. Located just south of the Maui Prince Hotel in Makena, the beach is long, wide and sandy. There is plenty of parking space, but don't leave any valuables in your car.
In the winter when the waves may be too large for swimming, you can watch surfers. Oneloa Beach is a great place to come at sunset since it is quite empty. You will get a spectacular view of the island of Molokini and the sun setting into the ocean.
If you drive further south on Makena Road, you will reach the 'Ahihi-Kina'u Natural Area Reserve and see sharp black volcanic rock just off the road. Makena Road ends at La Perouse Bay.
