Haleakala National Park Headquarters

The Haleakala National Park Headquarters Visitor Center is located one mile from the park entrance at an elevation of 7,000 feet. The center us open year-round from 8am to 4pm. You can stop here to pick up more information about Haleakala and get a backcountry camping/cabin permit.
Facilities include restrooms, public telephone, picnic area and Hawaii Natural History Association sales area. Inside there is a replica of one of the most famous Haleakala plants - the silversword. There is no food or gas sold in the park.
The summit of Haleakala is another 30-minute drive from the headquarters. There is another visitor center at 9,700 feet, near the top of the mountain.
