Battery Park

The park is home to the Castle Clinton National Monument built initially as a defense post and later converted into a theater after accumulating landfill connected it to the mainland. In mid-19th century, it served as New York City's immigration station before Ellis Island.
Boats departing for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island depart from the Castle Clinton National Monument, where you can also purchase tickets.
Facing the water, there are numerous benches where to visitors can sit down and gaze at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the distance.
