From on August 15 through October 15, 2004, don't be surprised if you see oversized apple sculptures decorate building plazas and store windows when you visit New York City.
In an effort to raise money for City Harvest, Police Athletic League and NYC & Company Foundation, more than 300 individually designed sculptures in a shape of an apple will be exhibited throughout New York City. The apples are four feet tall and measure four feet in diameter. Artists will decorate the acrylic interiors and exteriors.
After the conclusion of the Big Apple Fest, the apple sculptures will be auctioned at Sotheby's.
