If you like to plan your New York City vacation around different festivals, here are some events to consider in New York City's Chinatown: Chinese New Year takes place between the months of January and February. During this celebration, homes are adorned in red and gold. During the Lantern Festival, part of the Chinese New Year celebrations, lanterns are hung in the streets while dragon and lion dances are held. Ghost Festival takes place on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
