The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City's Central Park

Written by VacationIdea.com Travel Editors.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, located at Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street, was originally designed by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould.

Since its first opening in 1880, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has added numerous wings and floors, building around and over the existing structure. Today, the museum covers 13 acres.

The front facade of the museum is classical, while the back reflects a modern style with clear glass panels of the Temple of Dendur. At the back end of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, you will also find the ancient Obelisk.
