New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center

Written by VacationIdea.com Travel Editors.
New York City Ballet performs at the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center during the winter holidays, in January, February, and from late April through the end of June. New York City Ballet was founded in 1948 by Lincoln Kirstein and George Balanchine. The company trains its own artists and creates its own works.

One of the most famous New York City Ballet productions is the holiday classic George Balanchine's The Nutcracker performed for six weeks every year. The colorful performance, complete with pastel costumes and graceful dancers, is always a favorite with children. If you are planning to attend The Nutcracker, be sure to order tickets well in advance.

Performance tickets, which can be purchased individually or as season subscriptions, range from $32 to $70 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at www.nycballet.com or at the New York State Theater Box Office, open from 10 am to 7:30 pm on Monday; from 10 am to 8:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday; and from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm on Sunday.

Students can take advantage of the Student Rush Ticket Program during the Winter and Spring season where tickets cost $10 for select performances. Call the Student Rush Ticket Hotline at 212-870-7766.
