The New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center

Written by VacationIdea.com Travel Editors.
The New York Philharmonic, housed in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, presents 170 concerts and attracts 1 million people every year. Events include a subscription season from September through June at Avery Fisher Hall, free summer Concerts, Young People's Concerts ®, Rush Hour programs, Saturday Matinees and special holiday concerts around Christmas.

In addition to musical performances, the New York Philharmonic offers a number of educational programs, such as pre-concert lectures, box-dinner talks, and discussions with musicians from the Orchestra following the Saturday Matinee concerts. For children, the New York Philharmonic offers Young People's Concerts ®, Musical Storytime, and other educational programs.

Plan on purchasing tickets well in advance for concerts, since they quickly sell out. Often you will be able to find an Open Rehearsal for a concert that has been long sold out. The cost for an Open Rehearsal is only $14, and it will give you an invaluable behind-the-scenes view into the workings of an orchestra.

Tickets cost from $14 for Open Rehearsals and Young People's Concerts ®, and from $37 to $114 for regular concerts.

The Concert Information Hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 212-875-5709.

You can order tickets by phone by calling 212-875-5656 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Saturday; and from noon to 8:00 pm on Sunday. If you prefer to pick up tickets at the box office, Avery Fisher Hall Box Office (212-875-5030) is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday; and from noon to 6:00 pm Sunday.
